In conjunction with the School Holidays, Queensbay Mall had organised a Children English Story Telling Competition, opened to all neighbourhood schools in Penang. It had an overwhelming response with total of 127 primary students taking part in the audition (which was held on 24 May, 2008), where 50 participants qualified to the semi-finals.

The lucky 50 semi-finalist were given a 2-day workshop organised by Queensbay Mall, in collaboration with JM Innovation, an innovative and reputable training company in Penang. The workshop conducted by professional public-speaking trainer, Ms. Mollie Yeoh, was held at BORDERS Queensbay Mall on May 28, 2008.

Following the weekend on 31st May, 10 participants from the 50 semi-finalist were shortlisted to continue to the FINALS, which will be held this coming Saturday, 7th June 2008 at 11 am.

Kudos to the following 10 young Finalists:-

1. Dhivyarudini Ravindran, aged 9, with the story titled ‘Who Did Patrick’s Homework’

2. Goh Jun Wei, aged 11, with the story titled ‘Bongsu and The Snake’

3. Kelly Lau Chiew Thong, aged 11, with the story titled ‘A Heart of Gold’

4. Lau Jin Mei, aged 9, with the story titled ‘A Clever Monkey’

5. Lee Zi Xuan, aged 9, with the story titled ‘The Stone Giant’

6. Lim Sing Qian, aged 11, with the story titled ‘The Fountain of Youth’

7. Rachel Tan, aged 10, with the story titled ‘ Ursula’s Umbrella’

8. Radhya Ong Ro Ying, aged 10, with the story titled ‘Why Chickens Peck the Ground?’

9. Samantha Ng Qian Rou, aged 10, with the story titled ‘Beauty and the Beast’

10 Toh Yi Jin, aged 9, with the story titled ‘The Golden Axe’

The FINALS will be at 2nd Floor Link Bridge, South Zone, Queensbay Mall starting 11am this coming Saturday June 7, 2008. So come and support these young story tellers and be entertained with their vibrant and wonderful stories!
