Queensbay Mall, It’s All Happening Here!
Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM), organised by the Penang State Tourism Development, Cultural, Art and Heritage, is a yearly sport event that caters to professional and amateur runners from the local and international scenes. Since 1985, thousands of marathon enthusiasts flocked from all over the world and Malaysia to participate in this annual run across Penang Bridge, one of the world’s longest bridges, and back. Flagging off at wee hours in the morning, the run is famous for its captivating sight of the golden sunrise yonder at the Penang Bridge

For any marathon runner, it is a truly exhilarating experience and accomplishment! It is not surprising, that the numbers of participants are growing steadily each year with increasing word-of-mouth publicity and society’s heightened awareness of living a healthier lifestyle.
Understanding the needs of different runners from pro- to amateur categories and diversities in their age groups, PIBM is designed to accommodate various runners’ needs. There is a full marathon, a half marathon, a quarter marathon and a 10 kilometer fun run opened to those above the age of 13. The PIBM is a much anticipated affair as trophies, finisher medals, certificates and other prizes are given out to those who have accomplished the race at the fastest time possible as well as to those who participate in this enjoyable event.
This year, PIBM (to be held on 16th November 2008) will be hosted at the outdoor car park of Queensbay Mall, Penang with a total of 15,000 registered participants to date.
